POESIA CAMPAGNOLA
A Bruce Hunter
Un albero è frutto della terra. Le ore,
passano sotto i portici avvolti
nel silenzio e nella nebbia; là sotto,
c’è un cesto di vimini e un lenzuolo bianco
d’amore e di primavera. Piove a dirotto,
le strade sudano. I vicoli parlano
di storie antiche, lunghi gli anni
interminabili lasciano tracce
come temporali o lacrime disperse
in un volo d’ali: corrono le voci,
così la memoria, degli orti
benedetti e innamorati.
COUNTRYPOEM
To Bruce Hunter
Tree is the fruit of the earth. The hours
pass, under the arcades
enfolded in fog and silence; down there,
a wicker basket, and a sheet white
with love and Spring. With rain it’s pelting1
the streets sweat. The alleys tell
olden stories, never-ending
the long years leave trails
as thunderstorms, or scattered tears
in a flying of wings: the voices run,
the memory likewise, of gardens
blessed and in love.

Si ringraziano l’autore, Fabio Strinati, il poeta Bruce Hunter per i consigli, e il ghost editor.
1NdT: to pelt with rain = piovere a dirotto. It is pelting with rain è espressione idiomatica. Si sono invertiti i blocchi (With rain || it’s pelting) al fine di produrre una rima in –ing con il successivo never-ending.
